THE WASH

Movie of The MonthThe Wash was a hip-hop-styled film released on November 16, 2001 featuring Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Xzibit and DJ Pooh, with an appearance made by Eminem (although he wanted 8 Mile to be his film debut, so he remained "uncredited"). This film was written and directed by DJ Pooh. The dialogs are notable for a huge amount of the appropriate slang, as well as the frequent use and sale of drugs on screen as if this is the way things are for an everyday carwash in the middle of Los Angeles.

Sean (Dr. Dre) and Dee Loc (Snoop Dogg) are roommates who have not yet paid their rent. To make matters worse, Sean just lost his job at Foot Locker, so Dee Loc suggests that he stop by the same car wash where he works. Sean is immediately hired as assistant manager since Chris (Eminem) had been fired the day before. At the same time, their landlord has given them a three-day eviction warning. Although Dee Loc has the money, because of dealing drugs on the side, he refuses to pay on account that Sean needs to come up with his half, so Sean does his best to impress Mr. Washington (George Wallace), the owner of the carwash, so that he can hold his job long enough to come up with his half of the rent.

At first, things go fine, but then Dee Loc is caught on tape stealing and Mr. Washington tells Sean he must decide what to do, including firing his roommate if that's the best 'executive decision' to make. Why Mr. Washington gives him this choice doesn't make much sense, but then again, it's just a movie. Anyway, Sean tries to appeal to Dee Loc to act more responsibly but this creates a tremendous strain in their relationship.

Then Mr. Washington is kidnapped at gunpoint by two inept and angry local thugs who are stupid enough to call the carwash with their demands unaware about caller ID, which of course reveals their location, but instead of calling the police, Sean and Dee Loc put aside their differences long enough to rescue their boss, otherwise Sean won't get paid and he won't be able to come up with his half of the rent.
To make matters worse, the former assistant manager, Chris, suddenly shows up wanting revenge on Mr. Washington for firing him, which sets up a final confrontation between all parties concerned.

8 Mile

Movie of The MonthControversial rapper Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) makes his big screen debut with 8 MILE, a bracing drama directed by the increasingly audacious Curtis Hanson. Set in 1995 in the bleak, urban battle zone of Detroit, the film follows the struggles of a young man who is desperate to make a better life for himself. Jimmy Smith, Jr., better known as Rabbit, is destined for a life of squalor. Living in a cramped trailer with his deadbeat mom (Kim Basinger), Rabbit works in a factory to make ends meet. His only outlet is hip-hop. Possessing a talent for freestyle rapping, Rabbit still hasn't managed to unleash his true potential.

But his best friend, Future (Mekhi Phifer), is determined to make that happen. Future forces Rabbit to enter a freestyle battle that he blew the week before, giving him another chance at redemption. Hanson's stellar portrait of lower-class urban disillusionment, shot with uncompromisingly gritty realism by Rodrigo Prieto, proves that the issue is no longer about race, it's about money. Eminem delivers a bold performance as the troubled youngster who is still trying to find his place in a harsh, cruel world

Have Gun Will Travel

Have Gun — Will Travel was a popular American Western television series that aired on CBS from 1957 through 1963. It was the #4 show in the Nielsen ratings in its first year, and #3 for the next three years. It was one of the few television shows to spawn a successful radio version. The radio series debuted on November 23, 1958.

The show followed the adventures of Paladin, a gentleman-turned-gunfighter (played by Richard Boone on television, and by John Dehner on radio), who preferred to settle problems without violence, yet, when forced to fight, excelled.

On June 13, 2006, it was announced a feature adaptation of the CBS series would be made. The concept will be updated to contemporary times and see Eminem playing a bounty hunter. According to the June issue of 'InTouch Magazine', "Eminem has committed to play Paladin, an assassin for hire in a modern version of the old series." The setting could be Eminem's hometown of Detroit, but those details have yet to be worked out.

The vehicle will be revamped from the original, with some characters based loosely on ones from the series as well as nods to certain story points.

Eminem will also be involved in either the soundtrack or scoring.
